SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Exceptional Student Services provides support to staff and parents.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills.  This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents of this class. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Reviews IEPs for accuracy and compliance.

 

Responsible for emailing and/or mailing copies of student’s IEPs to parents.

 

Respond to and request records from other districts and outside agencies (e.g. DES/DD, DSC, CIA, etc.).

 

Send and receive records through e-IEP PRO.

 

Maintains electronic documents, files and records (e.g. IEPs, student information, etc.) for the purpose of providing current information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.

 

Performs special education student transfer activities and student withdrawals for the purpose of providing required information in response to requests from parents, districts and other agencies.

 

Interpreting and/or translating throughout the district as needed.

 

Schedules and coordinates ESS meetings for psychologists, staff and parents.

 

Receives incoming transfer student files and reviews for special education needs and disperses to the appropriate schools and personal. 

 

Responds to requests for information on IEPs (prior, current and developing)

 

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines

  1. High school diploma or GED required.

 

  1. Two years clerical/data experience, preferably in public education. Knowledge of special education programs and procedures is preferred.

 

  1. Ability to use computer to prepare and check on documents sent paperless.

 

  1. Proficient in word processing, keyboarding and file maintenance.

 

  1. Ability to meet established timelines.

 

  1. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

 

  1. Ability to translate/interpret/speak/write English and Spanish fluently.
 
Knowledge of:
  • District and Department policies and procedures;
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases;
  • Pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.

 

 

Skill in:

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proper English and Spanish, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation
  • Use of computers and technology, to include, but not  limited  to  email, internet, Microsoft Office or equivalent software

 

 

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

A valid State Driver’s License may be required.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

 

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with public and staff.
