QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Valid Arizona Occupational Therapist license. 
2. Registered as an Occupational Therapist.
3. Graduate of an accredited OT program (minimum BA/BS level)
4. Knowledge and experience in treating children with handicapping conditions and/or developmental delays.

REPORTS TO:

Special Education Coordinator

JOB GOAL:

To provide services through the IEP process to enable children to better benefit from their education program.  Services may include any of the following: screening evaluation, consultation and and/or direct treatment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Screens and evaluates students referred by the multidisciplinary team; writes evaluation summaries based upon assessments; provides consultation to staff and parents regarding screening and evaluation results.
2. Plans and implements therapy programs based on the findings of the assessments supporting educational goals.
3. Provides inservices and training, as needed, to educational staff and parents, to assist with therapy programs. 
4. Writes appropriate and supportive data and maintains records as needed, including, but not limited to, reports, goals and written programs.
5. Participates as a member of the IEP team in monitoring progress, planning programs and resolving problems and educational issues. Completes and submits paperwork in a timely manner and meets IEP required due dates.                                                                                                          
6. Keeps informed of all updated techniques and treatments for related casework.
7. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers; use tools and controls and reach with hands and arms. 
8. Oversee, guide, and direct certified occupational therapist assistant (COTA) when applicable.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job shall be evaluated by the Special Education Coordinator in accordance with provision of the Board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
