QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Arizona Occupational Therapist license.
- Registered as an Occupational Therapist.
- Graduate of an accredited OT program (minimum BA/BS level)
- Knowledge and experience in treating children with handicapping conditions and/or developmental delays.
REPORTS TO:
Special Education Coordinator
JOB GOAL:
To provide services through the IEP process to enable children to better benefit from their education program. Services may include any of the following: screening evaluation, consultation and and/or direct treatment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Screens and evaluates students referred by the multidisciplinary team; writes evaluation summaries based upon assessments; provides consultation to staff and parents regarding screening and evaluation results.
- Plans and implements therapy programs based on the findings of the assessments supporting educational goals.
- Provides inservices and training, as needed, to educational staff and parents, to assist with therapy programs.
- Writes appropriate and supportive data and maintains records as needed, including, but not limited to, reports, goals and written programs.
- Participates as a member of the IEP team in monitoring progress, planning programs and resolving problems and educational issues. Completes and submits paperwork in a timely manner and meets IEP required due dates.
- Keeps informed of all updated techniques and treatments for related casework.
- The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers; use tools and controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Oversee, guide, and direct certified occupational therapist assistant (COTA) when applicable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work year, salary and benefits as established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job shall be evaluated by the Special Education Coordinator in accordance with provision of the Board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
